People with disabilities have equal rights. The European Disability Strategy 2010-2020

Around a sixth of the EU population lives with a disability. Obstacles related to attitudes and the environment often prevent people in this position from full social and economic participation. This leaflet details the action which the EU is taking to make equal opportunities for disabled people a reality.

It sets out the advantages of EU involvement in this field and places it in a global context. It then examines the various areas of focus of EU policies related to disabilities and the strategies and instruments used to break down barriers to participation. Finally a range of web links are provided at which readers can access further information on the subject. This publication is available in printed format in all EU official languages.
