The European Parliament's budgets committee approved on 9 February 2017 a proposal to provide EU aid worth €1.8 million in the context of the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) for 800 former retail workers from the Drenthe and Overijssel regions in the Netherlands. The position was confirmed by the plenary session on 14 February.

The proposal was put forward by the European Commission in November 2016. It still needed endorsement by the Council of the European Union.
