Landfill and tyres. UK Minister for Consumer Affairs Nigel Griffiths has called upon the tyre industry to increase the number of scrap tyres it recovers and to prepare in good time for an expected Europe-wide ban on putting scrap tyres into landfill sites. The draft EC Landfill Directive implies a virtual 100% recovery rate.
