The Commission has published a notice stating that it intends to authorise an agreement between postal operators under the competition rules of the EC Treaty and the European Economic Area (EEA). The agreement is about how much the postal operator of the country of origin must pay the postal operator of the country of destination for the delivery of cross-border mail. The Commission has insisted upon important changes and clarifications to ensure that the increase in terminal dues is accompanied by tangible benefits for consumers. In particular, the Commission insisted that the speed of delivery of cross-border mail be improved susbstantially. |
