Opinion of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights on the Proposal for a Council Framework Decision on the use of Passenger Name Record (PNR) data for law enforcement purposes

Upon the request of the French Presidency of the European Union, the EU Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) presented an opinion on the European Commission's proposal for a Council framework decision on the use of Passenger Name Record (PNR) data for law enforcement purposes. This opinion provided an overview of relevant fundamental rights issues, focusing on the right to respect of private life, the right to data protection and the prohibition of discrimination.
