Oettinger’s nomination as European Commissioner for Budget and Human Resources

The European Parliament's Conference of Presidents decided on 23 November 2016 not to give members of the chamber a say over the indication of Günther Oettinger as the new Commissioner for Budget and Human Resources.

Informal hearings were scheduled to take place, but with no power to ratify or block the nomination of Mr Oettinger. Since this promotion was announced following the resignation of the previous Commissioner, his credibility was damaged by different gaffes and revelations.
