Report under the Convention on Nuclear Safety by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany. In view of the constitutional protection of human life as well as the protection of public health, the risks resulting from the use of nuclear energy have been re-evaluated in Germany. As a result of this re-evaluation on the basis of recent findings and experiences, the Federal Republic of Germany will end the use of nuclear energy for commercial electricity production in an orderly manner. The phase-out will be implemented by limiting the standard lifetime of the nuclear power plants to 32 years from the date of commissioning.
