Date: 28/03/1996 All EU ministers are equal, naturally, but some are more equal than others. So it appears to Danish Minister Bjorn Westh, who was diverted from Zaventem to Ostend because of fog when he flew to Brussels for a justice and home affairs gathering the other week. While he and his entourage piled into a taxi for the one-hour motorway slog to get to the Justus Lipsius building on time, Swedish Minister Laila Freivalds had a much faster trip. She was also forced to land in Ostend, but was given a police escort all the way to the Council building. “It was like low flying,” Freivalds told journalists on arrival. |
