An Open Europe/ComRes poll shows that whilst UKIP is heading for victory in the European elections, there is widespread support across the political spectrum for David Cameron’s strategy of negotiating a new settlement in the EU, followed by an In/Out vote.

Even some 30% of UKIP voters favour a looser relationship with the EU over outright withdrawal. Of the individual party leaders, the public still has the most faith in David Cameron to negotiate a better deal for the UK in the EU – though it’s clear that there’s a high degree of scepticism about whether a new deal can be delivered
