In 1997, Mexico was the first country in Latin America to sign a Global Agreement with the EU. This came into force in 2000, and was set to be replaced by the new agreement once it was ratified. + EPRS: Analysis of the upcoming Modernisation of the Trade Pillar of the European Union- Mexico Global Agreement [Study, April 2017] The European Union and Mexico announced on 21 April 2018 an Agreement in Principle regarding a revised trade agreement between the two sides. |
