The sixth framework programme was set up by the EU to promote European research and technological development during the period from 2002 to 2006. The Court analysed the extent to which the two main instruments, ‘networks of excellence’ and ‘integrated projects’, had effectively contributed to the achievement of the objectives of the programme. The Court concluded that these instruments contributed to the general objective of promoting effective research collaboration but their specific objectives were only partially achieved. |
