NATO agrees to strengthen country’s border defence

NATO's Defence Planning Committee agreed on 19 February 2003 to boost Turkey's defences against any possible attack by Iraq. The decision means that NATO can ask member countries to provide Turkey with early warning AWACS aircraft as well as missile and chemical and biological defences to Turkey.
