The six-nation (Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey) consortium which planned to build the Nabucco pipeline to deliver gas from the Caspian basin and the Middle East to central Europe – in competition with Russian gas – called for 'concrete commitments' from its suppliers by the end of March 2011. The consortium was now looking for agreements from Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and the Kurdish region of northern Iraq to provide annual supplies of 31bcm of gas to start flowing by 2017. |
