...according to a new Eurostat report. It shows that one in six Europeans live in conditions below the levels which EU leaders declared to be “the minimum acceptable way of life” at a 1994 summit. Social Affairs Commissioner Padraig Flynn said the findings clearly indicated that the updated Maastricht Treaty must explicitly address the problems of social exclusion and poverty.
