More than 80 per cent of farmers to be paid on first day

82.5% of Welsh farmers received Single Payments totalling more than £200million on the first day that the European Commission allows payments to be made, Rural Affairs Minister Elin Jones announced on the 1 December 2009.

The Single Payment Scheme (SPS) came into force on 1st January 2005. It replaced most of the individual Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) subsidy payments previously made to farmers.
