More calls for euro rate cut

The European Central Bank should follow the lead of the US and cut interest rates if it wants to avoid a slide into recession, a United Nations body said on 24 April 2001. UNCTAD (the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development) claims Europe would be badly hit by the slowdown in the United States and it needs to act now if it wants to avoid the worst effects.
