The European Union is the world's largest contributor of development aid - with annual donations of some €7 billion to over 150 countries and territories. Ensuring that it gets to the people who need it most is vital. How to achieve this was one of the topics under discussion in a European Parliament Development Committee seminar held 4 October 2006 on 'Co-ordinating EU and national development policies'. The goal is to avoid duplication and fragmentation so as to deliver 'more and better' aid. |
