During the Environment Council which took place in Brussels on 17 December 2014, EU member states showed their concern over the European Commission's intention to scrap a pending Circular Economy package which was announced during the presentation of the EC's 2015 Work Programme [click here for more information]. EC Vice-President Frans Timmermans had then stated that the Circular Economy package would be re-tabled with a 'more ambitious' legislative proposal in 2015. But he gave no further details on how that would be achieved. Later on, Environment Commissioner Karmenu Vella reinforced that he Circular Economy made a lot of environmental and economic sense. |
