Ministers ‘unanimous’ against ditching of Circular Economy

During the Environment Council which took place in Brussels on 17 December 2014, EU member states showed their concern over the European Commission's intention to scrap a pending Circular Economy package which was announced during the presentation of the EC's 2015 Work Programme [click here for more information].

EC Vice-President Frans Timmermans had then stated that the Circular Economy package would be re-tabled with a 'more ambitious' legislative proposal in 2015. But he gave no further details on how that would be achieved. Later on, Environment Commissioner Karmenu Vella reinforced that he Circular Economy made a lot of environmental and economic sense.
