On 16 March 2018 the French President Emmanuel Macron and the German Chancellor Angela Merkel met to discuss about European Union reforms. Further information: After being elected in March 2018 for her fourth term as chancellor, Angela Merkel met Emmanuel Macron in Paris to discuss reforms to strengthen the European Union. Macron's plan for the European Union was mainly based on a large investment budget and a common finance minister for the Eurozone. Macron and Merkel planned to formulate a roadmap to reform the Eurozone by June 2018. Other important issues they dealt with were migrant crisis, defence and trade. |
