Summary: The European Commission approved unconditionally on 15 June 2018 under the EU Merger Regulation the acquisition of Uniper by Fortum. It concluded that the transaction would raise no competition concerns. Further information: Fortum and Uniper are both companies active in the energy sector. During its investigation, the Commission received feedback from a number of competitors and customers of Fortum and Uniper, as well as regulators, grid operators and energy exchanges.
