EUObserver reported that Members of the European Parliament's Agriculture Committee adopted a report on the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy on the 25 May 2011. The MEPs on the Committee threw their support behind the European Commission plans to limit farm payments under a reformed common agricultural policy (CAP), but warned against future increases in bureaucracy for farmers.

The MEPs also signaled their support for a more environmentally-friendly CAP post 2013 and stressed the need for European food security.

The report will be considered at a plenary session of the European Parliament in June 2011.
