Members of the European Parliament's Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) endorsed on the 19 March 2014 draft rules that define pollen as a natural constituent of honey and not an ingredient.

Under the new rules, to be voted in plenary in April 2014, genetically-modified (GM) pollen will only be labelled if it makes up more than 0.9% of the honey.
