After US President George W Bush revealed the existence of secret CIA detention centres in Europe for suspected terrorists, September 2006, Members of the European Parliament wanted clarification about the possible involvement of EU governments in the detention and transfer of prisoners by the CIA and the existence of CIA detention centres in Europe.
