MEPs accuse commission of blocking EU statistics reform

EUObserver reported in April 2014 that negotiations aimed at reforming the governance and independence from political interference of national and EU statistical agencies in order to increase the transparency on EU statistical output had collapsed after the European Commission refused to accept some of the amended proposals put forward by the European Parliament.
