The South Africa-European Union Co-operation Council, established in terms of the Trade Development and Co-operation agreement (TDCA), held its second meeting on 26 June 2001 in Brussels. The meeting took stock of progress in the implementation of the TDCA and in the outstanding negotiations on Wine and Spirits and Fisheries Agreements, with a view to charting the future course of the EU-South Africa multi-dimensional partnership. In order to fast-track progress on the finalisation of the Wine and Spirits Agreement, as well as other outstanding issues, the two co-chairs of the meeting agreed to meet before the end of July 2001 with a view to achieving the conclusion of these matters as soon as possible. On Fisheries it was noted that the EU would send further communication to South Africa.
