Memo: Customs: Commissioner Šemeta welcomes EP vote to complete the modernization of Customs

The European Parliament voted on 11 September 2013 to endorse the Union Customs Code. It will serve as the new framework Regulation on the rules and procedures for customs throughout the EU. The new Code streamlines and simplifies customs rules and procedures, and facilitates more efficient customs transactions in line with modern-day needs. The Regulation for the Union Customs Code can enter into force by 1 November 2013, after the adoption of the regulation by the Council.
