Memo: Commission sets up new advisory ‘Group of Societal Policy Analysis’ with leading academics

The European Commission on 6 October 2005 set up a new external advisory 'Group of Societal Policy Analysis' (GSPA) involving top European experts in a broad range of fields which are important to European citizens and policy makers, such as labour market and welfare reform and promoting better education and research policies. Meetings of GSPA were to be chaired by the President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso and attended by Commissioners in charge of related portfolios.
