The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Policy made her first official visit to Russia on 24 April 2017, meeting with the country's foreign minister. Both sides held a long debate on bilateral relations and sought to develop further cooperation on different areas like the Arctic policy, culture and research. The restart of cooperation regarding terrorism was also welcome at the press conference. The two representatives also discussed the situation in Ukraine and the EU's policy of non-recognition on Crimea, the situation in Syria and the efforts towards a negotiated political solution and other relevant topics around the globe. |
