Around 300 000 persons protested on 26 March 2011 in the middle of London against the government’s cuts to public services.Teachers, NHS staff, council workers, students and other community groups gathered in the capital for the ‘March for the Alternative: Jobs, Growth, Justice’, organised by the Trades Union Congress.

The march was the largest protest in the capital since the anti-Iraq war rally of 2003, and the biggest public backlash against the coalition government’s spending cuts since it came to power in May 2010.
