Maritime issues

The seas and oceans - whether considered as a resource in terms of energy, heritage and tourism or for their research and transport potential - offer a vast possible source of sustainable growth. They are, however, poorly exploited.

At a time when the European economy is in need of a new impetus, we can no longer turn our back on the sea.
Since it was set up, the CPMR has been lobbying for the development of a European approach to this issue :

+ Ambitious. An ambitious policy is the only way of providing a significant impetus.
+ Integrated. It must bridge the dividing lines between sectoral policies and facilitate coordination of stakeholders at different levels.
+ In which all regions have a role to play. It is impossible to avoid involving maritime regions in this policy, because of their history, economies and competences.
