French Front National leader Marine Le Pen saw herself in a new battle against her father and founder of the party, Jean Marie Le Pen, this time over her proposal to canvass party members about changing their party's name.

Consecutive conflicts between Mrs Le Pen and her father had already taken her to leave the family's estate. In June 2014, father and daughter had fallen out publicly after he made public remarks about a French singer of Jewish origin with passing reference to the Nazi concentration camps.
