The European Union's new Trade Commissioner, Peter Mandelson, told a European Parliament hearing on 4 October 2004 that he would push for reform of the World Trade Organisation. Mr Mandelson said he would like to see the rules that govern the operations of the WTO improved so that the organisation could become a more credible promoter of multilateral trade. |
