Male-female equality in Europe

The European Parliament adopted a report, September 2007, on equality between women and men in the EU in 2007 which takes as its starting point the fourth annual European Commission report on gender equality and gender mainstreaming in policy areas. Two major initiatives in 2006 had a bearing on gender equality in the EU: the Commission's adoption of the Roadmap for equality between women and men for 2006-2010, and the adoption of the Pact for Gender Equality.
