Abstract:
The revised and expanded second edition of this book offers an introduction to European Union policy making. The book focuses on the Europeanisation of the policy making process in the Member States of the European Union (EU). An assessment is provided of the current functioning and policy making process of the EU as well as the internal and external challenges of the future.

The book is divided into three parts the first of which looks at the policy-making processes of the EU. This focuses on the formal processes of EU institutions and actors and also the informal processes of lobbying, actor strategies, coalitions and dependencies. A section on the EU as a new political system is also included as an introduction. The second concentrates on specific European policies, including sections on telecommunications policy; energy policy; rail and transport policy; and educational policy. The area of justice and home affairs is also examined in terms of the current status and future integration. The final part focuses on the wider economic and political structure of the EU, looking at monetary union, foreign and security policy and the issue of EU enlargement.

The book is aimed at students interested in the EU, European politics and integration.
