Less needy districts to lose regional aid

The United Kingdom Government has issued its response to the first stage of the Consultation process of its review of UK Assisted Areas. It has also issued the draft proposal for a new Assisted Areas map for the period 2007-2013. The new map will take effect on 1 January 2007 and will replace the current map which will expire on 31 December 2006. The review is in response to new European Commission guidelines on regional aid.
