The Secretary of State for Scotland, Michael Moore, said on 11 June 2013, that it was not credible for Scotland gain independence from the rest of the UK and expect to keep the welfare system while, at the same time, changing the welfare policies. He was speaking after the Scottish Government backed proposals for maintaining an interim UK-wide welfare system even if Scotland voted for independence in 2014. |
