A new Electronic Money Directive was adopted by the European Parliament and the Council on 16 September 2009. It must be transposed into UK law by 30 April 2011. This consultation document sets out the changes that will be made to the legal framework for e-money. It sets out the Government’s proposed approach to the discretionary elements left open by the Directive, and invites comments both on this approach, and on the draft implementing regulations. Deadline for responses: 30 November 2010.
