According to Eurostat estimates and the estimates submitted by EU Member States in early June 2008, the area under cereals will increase sharply (+5.7% in comparison with 2007) in response to the substantial increase in world cereal demand. In contrast, rape seed and sugar beet areas decreased (-3.1 and -6.8%), but at different rates across Member States. |
