Key EU enlargement vote passed

In a historic vote on the 9 April 2003 MEPs approved the accession to the EU of the ten candidate countries due to join in 2004. This was following after the European Parliament, the Council, and the Commission found agreement, after long and difficult negotiations, on the three year financing framework for the enlarged Union.
