Ireland's prime minister Enda Kenny stated on 12 January 2015 that his government would not remain silent on United Kingdom's calls to reform the European Union.

Mr Kenny said the Irish government would consider backing some of the UK's proposals, should these be 'achievable' and 'desirable'. However, he did not guarantee full support to its neighbour's position.
