Summary:
A meeting of the Justice and Home Affairs Council was held on 6-7 June 2019. The agenda includes the following items:
- Exchange of views on the future of the European Union's migration and asylum policy;
- Exchange of views on future global developments in the area of migration;
- Adoption of partial general approach on a proposal aimed at reforming the return directive;
- Discussion on the future of the European Union's policy in the area of internal security and, in particular, law enforcement cooperation;
- Update on the implications of 5G networks in the area of internal security;
- Adoption of partial general approaches on sectoral home affairs proposals in the context of the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for 2021-2027:
- Asylum and migration fund
- Instrument for financial support for border management
- Visa and internal security fund
- Adoption of mandates for two sets of negotiations:
- Adoption of conclusions on data retention for crime investigation;
- Debate on the digitalisation of cross-border judicial cooperation in civil and commercial matters;
- Participation of the EU to the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO).
