The European Court of Justice decided on 7 September 2016 to confirm the fine of €357 million imposed by the European Commission on Pilkington Group for its participation in the 'car glass' cartel. The Commission decided in November 2008 to punish a number of companies, including Pilkington, for infringement of the European Union's competition law by participating in a set of agreements and concerted practices in the automotive glass sector. It imposed therefore a fine of €370 million on Pilkington, later reduced to €357 million. Pilkington then asked the General Court to annul the decision and to substantially reduce the amount of the fine. By judgment of December 2014, the Court dismissed Pilkington’s action and confirmed the Commission’s decision and the amount of the fine. |
