Several associations and groups relating to air transport industry released a joint statement in September 2016 supporting the effort of the European Union's regulator to produce a robust harmonised regulatory safety framework for donres. Some of these groups also showed their serious concern about the safety of manned aircraft in controlled and uncontrolled airspace. As a result of growth in both commercial and recreational markets, drone manufacturers and operators sought greater access to airspace, including that in which commercial aircraft operate. Recent incidents in the surroundings of European airports or close to low-level helicopter operations were seen as an illustration of the threats this sector faced.. |
