Ten years on from its predecessor in Rio, the recent world summit in Johannesburg called for more action on sustainable development. Enterprises rising to this challenge have been pivotal in launching voluntary public-private 'Type II' partnerships. These supplement 'Type I' (inter-governmental) ones and will probably be Johannesburg's most lasting legacy. The challenge now is to deliver.
