According to media reports in April 2015, the founder of the National Front in France, Jean-Marie Le Pen (and father of the current leader of the FN) was accused of channelling funds to Switzerland through a trust held in the name of a former European Parliament assistant.

Mr Le Pen was accused of hiding a Swiss bank account containing €2.2m from the French High Authority for Transparency in Public Life (HATVP). The beneficiary of the trust that held the account was an assistant of the National Front in the European Parliament, Gérald Gérin.
