MEPs voted to approve a Fourth Framework Programme of 13.8 billion ecu, but made adjustments to the amounts available under the different spending categories. They called for 155 million ecu to be spent on developing the aeroplane of the future, 115 million ecu on educational software, 110 million on water quality research, 45 million ecu to make different transport methods compatible, and 50 million ecu on work on mine clearance.
