It Makes No Sense to Ban the Burqa

Commentary feature. Belgium looks set to ban women from wearing the burqa or niqab in public in April 2010. Although opposition to the Islamic veil is understandable in democratic Western societies, banning it won't solve fundamental problems of integration.

All over Europe, a debate is raging on prohibiting facial veils. Countries’ responses differ, but the arguments are the same everywhere.
