Irish business to back Yes in treaty vote

Article reported that Irish businesses was preparing to launch a campaign in the spring of 2012 in support of the eurozone fiscal compact as opinion polls suggest voters would back the treaty in a referendum.

But the trade union movement was divided on whether to favour the treaty, which would tighten budget rules and introduce penalties for states that break the rules.

Separately, according to opinion polls published on the 4 March 2012, Irish voters would vote strongly in favour of the referendum on Europe's treaty to tighten budget rules.
