Ireland steps up EU campaign

The Irish Prime Minister, Bertie Ahern, has been urging voters not to reject a key European treaty a second time, as a government-sponsored leafleting campaign gets under way. A 14-page information booklet about the upcoming referendum on European Union enlargement is being sent to 1.4 million households in Ireland.
