Ireland must vote for an end to its humiliation in Europe

Commentary feature in which the writer suggests that the risk is that the European project will destroy not save Ireland.

By bowing its head and accepting the apparent wisdom of austerity, Ireland has not questioned the appropriateness of the eurozone as an economic structure. The danger is that the passage of the fiscal compact will draw a shroud over the eurozone’s shortcomings and halt attempts to improve the framework.
